Hierarchy

Background: Thing/Node/Sequence/Element, System Data, Names, Views
Related: Tree, Example 6

Discussion:
A hierarchy is a view of things where the primary relationship between them is the same. Documentation will refer to a hierarchy either by its root or the primary relationship. The figure shows two hierarchies. The first is the god or parent/child heirarchy. The second is the universe or assembly/part hierarchy. Note that john and mary are in both hierarchies. Each hierarchy has a reference to john and mary.

Some groups of things are easier to view when displayed in the grid.

Notes:
A hierarchy's root has special considerations such as: cannot be cut, copied, etc. Tree nodes themselve have a "parent/child/sibling" relationship which is independent of the relationship between things in the database.
